The sun shone down on the Village Green as the town celebrated the Carnival on the theme of Yesteryear!

There were some amazing colourful entries to the procession, which was led by the Prime Street Roaming Band. The street procession was presided over by Queen Dorothy, King Scarecrow, Regis the Lion, Toto, the Wicked Witch of the West and Tin Man on the Town Council's float on the theme of the Wizard of Oz.

Each year a contest is held for the 'best of' in the procession, this year we are proud to announce that we have won 1st prize in the following categories;

  • Best Dressed Team
  • Mayor's Choice

We would also like to congratulate The 4th Houghton Regis Scout Group on winning 1st prize for 'Most Original Entry'.
We would also like to congratulate Donna's Dance School and Treow House for winning 'Best Performance' and 'Best Dressed Walker' respectively.

During the afternoon there was performances from the Vintage Show Girls, The Flying Ants (Beatles Tribute Band), Donna's Dance School, Zumba with Gina and On Pointe Dance Academy.

The Village Green boasted a fantastic range of stalls, which included, crafts, handmade items, games, tombola, the Mayor's Coconut Shy, Fudge, information, face painting, Popcorn and Candy Floss to name but a few.

In addition to the procession contest, A stall contest is held, We can proudly announce that we have won the 1st place award for 'Best Group'.

Again our congratulations go out to Treow House and Michelle Ayres for 'Best Individual' and 'Best Comercial' respectively.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped with the preperation of this years floatila and props & to everyone who donated prizes for the tombola, without whom we could not have been as successful in fund raising, prize winning and recruitment for our next generation of scouters.
